Taekwondo
What is Taekwondo?
Taekwondo is a Korean martial art focusing on dynamic foot and hand techniques. It builds fitness, strength, discipline, and personal development, promoting values such as courtesy, perseverance, and self-control.
How is Taekwondo different from Karate and other martial arts?
Karate was founded in Japan, while Taekwondo originated in Korea. Taekwondo places greater emphasis on kicking techniques along with hand strikes, agility, and movement.
What can I expect from Taekwondo classes?
Classes are beginner-friendly and focus on building strength, agility, and mental resilience. Training improves fitness, burns calories, and develops martial arts skills progressively.
Separate black belt classes are run for those who have reached this level.
Do you teach sparring?
Yes. Sparring is taught from yellow belt level upwards. Training includes shadow sparring and contact sparring using protective gear to develop technique, agility, resilience, and fitness. Our focus is on building good technique and a variety of drills that can be used in sparring, whilst minimising the risks of injury.
Do you teach self-defence?
Yes. We teach practical self-defense techniques, including punching, kicking, defending, and falling. We also run community workshops focusing on building effective self-defense skills over time.
Tai Chi
What is Tai Chi?
Tai Chi is a martial art that uses slow, flowing movements combined with breathing techniques to build strength, balance, flexibility, and mental calmness. It is a holistic and preventative tool, to self-manage stress, anxiety and the rush of daily life.
How is Qigong different from Tai Chi?
Qigong focuses on cultivating vital energy through breathing, mindfulness, and gentle movements. It is a stream of Chinese Medicine that like acupuncture, moves energy and unblocks stagnation to achieve balanced Yin and Yang throughout the body. You are in control of your own body and how you move this energy as your awareness increases through this gentle practice. Tai Chi is one form of Qigong, incorporating martial arts patterns for blocking, striking, and balance.
What can I expect from Tai Chi classes?
Tai Chi classes are beginner-friendly and focus on strengthening the body, improving balance, reducing stress, and enhancing mental clarity.
Is Tai Chi too slow to be effective?
No. Tai Chi builds deep strength, balance, and internal energy. Research supports its benefits in reducing stress, preventing falls, managing pain, and improving sleep and fatigue. Its gentle nature means Tai Chi is accessible to all. But don’t be fooled, you will still need to work hard. Come and try!

Can I make up missed classes or change classes?
Yes. We offer flexible options to make up missed classes. Speak to your instructor to find a suitable time.
How often should I attend classes?
Attending two to three times per week best builds skills and confidence.
Beginners starting with once per week will still benefit, especially when practicing outside of class. Like anything, the more you put in, the more you get out of it.
How does the Taekwondo belt system work and how do I progress through the belts?
Students move through a coloured belt system by demonstrating skills during grading assessments. Regular attendance, technical proficiency, and participation in gradings support steady progression.
How much do classes cost?
Class fees vary depending on how often you train. The more you train the less cost per hour. Please contact us for the latest pricing information.
Our classes are accessible and one hour of training is cost effective compared to activities such as personal training, swimming, gym classes or other styles of martial arts and self-defense courses. Pensioner/ health card and NDIS options are also available.
Am I locked into a contract?
No. We do not require long-term contracts. You can train on flexible terms, from month to month.
